I am interested in improving MRI image acquisition techniques to help us better understand and manage human disease.
My research focuses on improving our ability to monitor therapeutic MR-guided focused ultrasound surgery (MRgFUS) treatments using MR acoustic radiation force imaging (MR-ARFI). By encoding the displacement induced by the ultrasound force into an MRI image, MR-ARFI can localize MRgFUS focal spots without inducing a significant temperature rise. This provides a practical means for real-time image feedback during therapeutic MRgFUS treatments.
