Interests

I am interested in the design and synthesis of small molecules with the goal of developing them into PET tracers as imaging agents for cancer.

Projects

Cancer cells have higher energy requirements than normal cells and therefore have increased amino acid transport and retention.  The neutral amino acid transporter, ASCT2, has been found in elevated levels in oncology and may correlate with disease progression and prognosis.  Probes capable of determining ASCT2 levels in vivo may have potential as cancer imaging biomarkers.  My current research is focused on the development of novel ligands for the amino acid transporter ASCT2 as well as assay development allowing for the determination of potency, affinity, and selectivity of these ligands.
